Dr. Brian Briesemeister

Dr. Briesemeister is the founder and Clinical Director of Center for Sleep and TMJ, a medical practice limited to helping patients with obstructive sleep apnea and TMJ disorders.


Dr. Briesemeister graduated from Howard University with a Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree. He was trained in comprehensive general dentistry, treating the whole patient not just the mouth. He has advanced training in temporomandibular joint disorders, myofacial pain, occlusion, minimally invasive dentistry, minimally invasive cosmetic dentistry, and botox in conjunction with orofacial pain.


Dr. Briesemeister has taken hundreds of hours of continuing education and has studied one on one with some of the world leading clinicians in dental sleep medicine and TMJ dysfunction. Recognized as a diplomate and qualified dentist by the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, Dr. Briesemiester is one of the most sought-after clinicians in his area for the treatment of dental sleep medicine and TMJ dysfunction. He holds active memberships in the American Academy of SIeep Medicine, American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, and The American Academy of Craniofacial Pain. Dr. Briesemeister has been a guest lecturer for Howard University School of Dental Medicine, clinical consultant for Eastern Virginia Medical School division of public health, and lectures for dental and medical study clubs.


Dr. Karen Parvin

Dr. Parvin has been practicing dentistry in Hampton Roads for almost 20 years. She has a passion for helping patients suffering from sleep disordered breathing.

Dr. Parvin has a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Vanderbilt University, and earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine from the University of Kentucky. She completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency and served in the Navy Dental Corps. She has completed extensive postdoctoral training in comprehensive dentistry, cosmetic dentistry and occlusion. Her experience as a general dentist introduced her to some of the devastating effects of untreated sleep apnea, inspiring her further her education by taking hundreds of hours of continuing education in dental sleep medicine, which has enabled her to better help many patients who suffered from sleep apnea and snoring.

Dr. Parvin is a Diplomate with the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine, a credential widely recognized as the gold standard in dental sleep medicine and is designated as a Qualified Dentist by the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine. She also is a Fellow in Academy of General Dentistry, an honor earned by less than 6% of dentists nationwide. She is a regional director, representing Virginia for the Mommy Dentists in Business organization. She holds active memberships in the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, and Mommy Dentists in Business.


Kelly Schulz, RDH, BSDH, MS

Kelly has over 27 years of combined dental hygiene, dental assisting, and clinical teaching experience. As a current adjunct faculty member of Old Dominion University, she is able to maintain the most current research and treatment modalities related to oral health. Her passion lies in educating patients and students about sleep apnea and health risks associated with sleep disturbances. Her training in dental sleep medicine began over 18 years ago while working in a comprehensive dental practice that focused on total health. She has implemented sleep disturbance training and screening to the students and faculty at Old Dominion University, as well as providing continuing education courses to the dental community at large.  

 

Kelly earned a Bachelor of Science in degree in Dental Hygiene at Old Dominion University in 2004 followed by a Master of Science degree in 2008. 

 

Kelly enjoys spending time with her husband, three sons and her German Shepherd Grace. She loves all things fitness and loves to cook!
